At the foot of Mount Yotei on the Japanese island of Hokkaido, the land comes alive with the seasons. In spring the animals scurry about, in summer the harvest comes in, and in winter the loveliest snow you can imagine falls. You are the builder of a new village and you decide what its future looks like. Will it be a snowy ski village, a farming village full of good food, a quiet nature reserve, or a bit of everything? You expand your land bit by bit, but you only have a few hands to work with. You bid with potatoes, and if they run out? Then you simply dig up some new ones. Along the way you welcome everything the north is known for: steaming ramen, tender wagyu and fine sushi, but also wild trout, sturdy Ezo bears and curious red foxes. Every round calls for a new approach, which keeps the game exciting throughout. The illustrations were made with great love by a Japanese artist and are based on real people and places from the region. Even the wooden tokens come from Hokkaido.
