This is the Dutch-language edition. In Tokaido you are a traveller crossing Japan's famous East Sea Road. Along the way you meet special people, taste delicious dishes, collect beautiful souvenirs and discover breathtaking landscapes.

You can also visit temples and explore remote places. But at the end of the journey, speed is not what counts. The player who has gathered the most impressive and varied experiences wins the game.

The game board is a straight travel route along which players move forward step by step. The player who is furthest behind always takes the next turn and may decide how far to move ahead.

That creates an interesting choice: do you go slowly and take more actions along the way, or do you hurry ahead to be the first to reach a popular location?

Along the route there are various action spaces, each with its own benefits. You can earn money or spend it to score points. Some spaces let you build up collections, while others simply give points for stopping there.

Thanks to the simple rules and the beautiful design, Tokaido offers a calm, almost zen-like play experience in which enjoying and discovering take centre stage.
