Theomachy: The Ancients

When gods clash, human blood flows. In Theomachy: The Ancients you take on the role of a supreme god, with a host of devoted followers behind you. Now the moment has come: unleash Poseidon on Ishtar, or pit Thor against Cthulhu. Your goal is clear. Destroy your opponents' believers and seize power. The heart of the game feels like a sharp game of poker, but with the souls of your followers as the stake. You put them on the line, you bluff, you read your fellow players, and you pick your moment. Call, raise or fold? That exact tension turns every round into a small gamble. In the middle of the table lies a Constellation, which is slowly revealed just like in poker. Sometimes you get a brilliant combination in hand, sometimes everything goes against you. With miracles, spells and powerful objects you send your followers into battle, build temples and cast curses over the unbelievers. Every round poses the same question: do you use your power to help your believers, or do you let them go to limit your losses? If no one gives in, the confrontation follows, in which hurricanes collide with deadly plagues and the ranks of believers shrink by the second. The game contains four pantheons to play with: Greek, Babylonian, Egyptian and Lovecraft's Outer Gods. A game usually takes less than 45 minutes, so you are soon ready for the next trial of strength.
