Shikoku

Shikoku is the smallest of Japan's four main islands and famous for its pilgrimage along 88 Buddhist temples. It is said that at a certain age people go through a year full of misfortune. To ward off bad luck, pilgrims visit temple 23, where the Buddha of healing is honoured. With every step they place a coin while chanting a mantra, which brings them luck and keeps misfortune at bay. In this game you step into the shoes of a pilgrim yourself. Chanting, you climb the 33 steps on your way to the pagoda. But watch out: here it is all about the middle road. Do not be the first, but certainly not the last either. Whoever stands second or second to last on the stairs when someone reaches the top is the lucky winner. Each round you play a card, move your pilgrim and the order changes again. You always have to judge carefully where you want to end up.
