SenbaZuru

There is an old Japanese legend: whoever folds a thousand paper cranes may make a wish that comes true. That story gained extra meaning through Sadako Sasaki, a girl who kept folding cranes after the war. Since then, those thousand origami cranes have stood for hope and peace in Japan. In SenbaZuru you bring that story to life together, with two players at the table. On your turn you place one of your four tiles. If you place it well, you capture every origami of the same colour that lies on a diagonal line. Bit by bit you take the birds away from your opponent. Then you draw a new tile and the game continues. Some tiles have a special effect that scores you extra points or blocks a line of your fellow player. SenbaZuru is a lovely two-player game that combines calm with tension. In about twenty minutes you build your own collection, while keeping a close eye on what the other player is planning. Ideal for a quiet moment together, where every move counts.
