The earth has dried up and so has civilisation. The survivors trudge on across the Saltlands, vast plains left behind by a huge ocean long ago. To survive, they built sail wagons: wheeled vehicles that glide across the salt flats with the wind. But the end of the world is not done with this place. From the west comes a terrifying Horde, roaring machines full of raiders searching for their lost God. Only those who get away first still stand a chance. In Saltlands it is up to you and the other players to find and reach an exit as fast as possible. The group that manages this first wins. The rest you leave behind for the Horde. There are no fixed teams, so you decide for yourself whether you work together or abandon someone at the last moment. You start with one captain, but your crew can grow along the way. Every extra crew member is an extra life and an extra action per turn. You move your sail wagon with the wind, tacking slowly against the wind or racing along when the wind is at your back. At the end of your turn you decide which group of raiders starts moving, until they have all had their turn. That way you can lend a fellow player a hand, or drive someone straight into the arms of the Horde. And do you dare to fight? Whoever beats a raider can take their vehicle and drive off with it.
