High on the mountain top stands the palace of the Phoenix Queen, who is about to awaken. Whoever wins her favour comes out as the greatest hero. Ryozen Essential Edition is a worker placement game for 1 to 4 players set in a fantasy world full of magic and animals with surprising powers. You place your helpers on a rotating game board made up of several layers. By turning the board you change the options and influence what you can gather from the surrounding lands. In the middle stands the Phoenix palace as a real little building, which you can put together and store away easily. Every helper has its own traits and you can place them face up or face down. That way you decide how you play and which tactic you choose. Each area gives different effects by day and by night, with plenty of chances to score points. For two or three players you flip the bottom layer over, so the game always suits your group. More than enough to bring to the table again and again.
