"What you leave behind is not engraved in stone monuments, but woven into the lives of others." Those words by Pericles sum up nicely what Philosophia: Dare to be Wise is all about. You step into the sandals of a great thinker from ancient Greece and set out in search of wisdom, fame and a place in history. It is a journey full of philosophy, discussion and divine help. On your turn you move across the board and choose one action, so you never have to wait long. And there is plenty to do. You build schools that spread your teachings, withdraw into temples to develop new ideas, or strike a deal with the Greek gods. Do you want to gather followers, visit oracles or win the favour of Athena in a blind auction? It is all possible. With thirteen actions and more than thirty paths to victory, no two games play the same. The game is about claiming three Labyrinth tiles before the Romans take power. If more than one player manages that, an exciting final debate follows. Using a twist on rock-paper-scissors you exchange arguments, until one thinker remains who may carry the title of greatest mind of the age. A meaty game for the enthusiast, with beautiful components and lots to think about together.
