Pessoa

Fernando Pessoa was one of the greatest poets of the last century. What made him special? He did not only write under his own name, but invented some seventy-five other writers. Some of them took on a life of their own, with their own character and their own way of writing. He called them his heteronyms. In Pessoa you step into the shoes of one of those famous figures and go looking for inspiration for your poems. You move between the world of thoughts in Pessoa's head and the streets of Lisbon. You visit the well-known cafés, browse through bookshops to broaden your knowledge and search everywhere for that one moment that sets your pen in motion. Every poem you write earns you points. Whoever has the most points at the end wins. A fun detail: each player is a different heteronym, yet all of them are the same person, Fernando Pessoa himself. You can play Pessoa in two ways. With just the base game it is a pleasant family game with clear rules and choices that make you think. Want more depth? Then add the two extra modules and the game becomes quite a bit tougher, with layers of strategy that make everything richer. The rulebook also contains lovely pieces of history about this remarkable poet and his invented writers.
