Imagine a game of chess where nobody ever leaves the board. In Paco Ŝako (Esperanto for 'peace chess') you do not capture pieces. Instead, you embrace them. Your black and white pieces can share one square, joined in a kind of union. The goal? To embrace your opponent's king in a creative way. Whoever manages that first wins. What makes this special is that you do not become stronger or weaker by losing pieces. Everything stays in the game, right up to the very last move. That means you are both involved until the end, and a game can suddenly turn around. You can take over joined pieces, release them again and sometimes even move several pieces in one turn. This creates chain reactions that bring the board to life, full of options and surprising twists. Paco Ŝako is about patterns and imagination, not about who grabs the most pieces. You play on an ordinary chessboard with ordinary pieces, but the feeling is completely different. It feels more like a conversation than a fight: you stand firmly behind your own ideas, but you stay open to what the other person brings. A game for two that is all about building together, even though you are playing against each other.
