Publisher: Don't Panic Games
Step into Japan during the Meiji era, somewhere between 1867 and 1912. In an okiya, a house where geishas are trained, young maiko live. Day after day they practise dance, music and wearing a beautiful kimono. Their dream? To grow into a real geisha. In Maiko you take on the role of such an apprentice and go looking for the old arts that lie scattered around the house. Maiko is a memory game with an elegant twist. You search for tiles that belong together. Find two of the same and you master another one of the nine geisha arts. Tiles in your colour score points, while tiles in other colours cost you points. Remembering where everything lies is important, but choosing what to take matters just as much. Along the way you earn kamon tokens, marks of standing that let you call in four teachers. Each teacher has their own talent to give you a hand. The maiko with the most points wins and may begin her career as a geisha. The game is for 2 to 4 players aged 9 and up and takes about 40 minutes. Perfect for an evening together at the table, where memory and a sense of style go hand in hand.
