Publisher: Decision Games (I)
Deep in the North African desert, far behind enemy lines, you fight a silent battle against Rommel's forces. In Long Range Desert Group: Special Operations Against Rommel 1941-1942 you play on your own as a small British unit carrying out secret missions. Pick a single mission or string all four assignments together into one long campaign. You set the course. Each mission gives you a number of operation points. You use them to put your team together, move across the map and launch attacks. The enemy is driven by a deck of event cards, so you never know exactly what lies ahead. Combat plays out turn by turn, with units opening fire one after the other. Score a victory and you gain extra points. Suffer heavy losses and your supply shrinks. When your points run out, the game is over. This is a game for anyone who loves history and tension, and it is played entirely on your own. Expect about two hours in which you are in charge of every choice. No fellow players needed, just you, the desert and a series of tough assignments that call for a cool head.
