Travel through the ages and build your own piece of world history. In Heroes of the World you play through two eras: antiquity and modern times. At the start you see only five regions on the board, such as the area around the Mediterranean, Africa and China. Only once those are filled do four new regions appear, including Europe, Russia and America. So the world grows before your eyes as you play. The nice thing is that you choose famous heroes from history, from Julius Caesar and Lao Tzu to Shakespeare and Mozart. Every hero gives you your own options. You grow your population, place signs of culture on the map, battle other players or collect money. With that money you build world wonders, such as the Hanging Gardens or the Great Wall of China, and you send whole peoples off to new regions. Whoever has the most pieces in a region earns the most points, and that makes every move exciting. For two to five players aged ten and up, with a playing time of about 75 minutes. A great pick for anyone who enjoys an evening of strategy together, without it getting too heavy.
