Hako Onna

In Hako Onna you descend into a dark mansion where something is roaming that you would rather not meet. One player takes on the role of the Hako Onna, the woman in the box. The others are visitors trying to escape from the house. You sneak through dimly lit rooms, search for items to protect yourself and try to find a way out. Come face to face with the Hako Onna? Then it is over for you and you become one of her servants, moving through the house along with her. What makes this game special: during the Hako Onna's turn, all other players have to keep their eyes closed. You hear something moving, but you do not know where she goes or what she does. And before your own turn comes around, you have to stay dead quiet. You do this by placing a disc on top of a small stack. If the little tower falls over, you have made noise and it is immediately the Hako Onna's turn again. That is exactly what makes the tension so thick you could cut it. The Hako Onna wins if all visitors have been turned into her servants, or if escaping has become impossible. The visitors have three ways to win: defeat her by finding her weak spot, reach the secret exit with the keyring from the safe, or put her to rest by placing her remains with her beloved doll Mary.
