Finspan
Explore the mysterious underwater world in Finspan, a game in which you combine deep-sea exploration with clever planning as a marine biologist. From the colorful Sunlight Zone to the dark depths of the Midnight Zone, you'll search for unusual fish species and map their behavior.
Over four weeks you will dive deeper and deeper, discover new fish and develop ecosystems. Lay eggs, hatchlings and form schools to expand your research. But beware: every choice affects your next dives, and only the player with the most valuable observations wins the battle for knowledge and prestige!
How do you play?
In Finspan, you play over four weeks, with each round consisting of six turns. You have two options each turn: add a new fish to your ocean or perform a dive to gain additional benefits.
- Add fish: Play a fish card and place the fish in the appropriate area of your ocean. Some fish bring instant bonuses, others give extra points at the end of the game.
- Diving: Send a diver to one of the three ocean zones to earn bonuses such as laying eggs, hatching young or drawing extra cards.
By making the right combinations and anticipating future dives, you will build the most diverse and valuable underwater world. Whoever has accumulated the most points by fish, eggs, young and schools at the end of four weeks wins!
Tips for winning in Finspan
1. Build a balanced ecosystem
Collecting a variety of fish is important, but focus on a good balance of fish, eggs and hatchlings. Too many of one species can make your strategy vulnerable, while a well-distributed ocean gives you multiple scoring options.
2. Plan your dives smart
Every dive offers powerful benefits, but choosing the right time is crucial. Think ahead and save dives for times when they are most beneficial, such as when you have just added a strong fish or are ready to hatch young.
3. Pay attention to scoring conditions
Points are earned by fish, eggs, young, schools and special achievements. Adjust your strategy based on available bonuses and goals. Sometimes it is better to develop a small group strongly than to haphazardly collect many fish.
4. Observe your opponents
Watch carefully what others are doing. If an opponent is collecting lots of young, it may be smart to choose dives that limit them. Anticipating others' strategies gives you an advantage.
5. Use bonuses effectively
Some fish provide benefits such as extra card draw or more dive options. Make use of these bonuses at the right time to increase your efficiency and score faster than your opponents.
6. Don't miss opportunities
Every turn is valuable. If you don't see a clear move, look for opportunities to gain long-term advantage, such as preparing a strong dive in a later round. Good preparation can make the difference between winning and falling just short!
