City Builder: Ancient World

You have just arrived in a newly conquered region. The emperor's order is clear: build a city that impresses. In City Builder: Ancient World you lay out your own Roman city tile by tile. New settlers knock at the gate and want a place to live. It is up to you to grow your city so that everyone is happy. And then there are those mighty monuments you need to raise to make the emperor proud. The nice thing about this game is that you choose how you play at the table. Play competitively and the player with the most points wins, making your city the new capital. Would you rather work together? Then you take on the challenge as a group to keep the emperor satisfied. If you fail, things do not look good for you. There is even a variant for when you want to build on your own. So the game adapts to your mood for the evening. Every tile you place asks for a bit of forward thinking. Where do you place that monument for the most points? How do you house all those settlers? For players aged 8 and up, with an evening of about an hour, this is a lovely way to spend time at the kitchen table. After all, Rome was not built in a day, but it is built in one game.
