Two players, a board with 64 squares and a battle that has been played for centuries. Chess takes you back to the age of kings and knights, where every move counts. You decide how your army moves. One piece goes straight, another diagonally, and yet another makes a jump. Step by step you build your attack, while you push your opponent's king further and further into a corner. The great thing about Chess is that the game grows with you. If you are playing for the first time, you will soon discover how much fun it is to think ahead. If you have been playing for years, you will notice there is always something new to learn. At the kitchen table, in a club or across from someone you have just met: every time a new game unfolds in its own way. Will you win with a cunning trap, or resign because your opponent is too strong? Every game is different. Chess is played all over the world by millions of people. The game grew out of an old Indian game and developed over the centuries into what it is today. You can join in from the age of six, and after that you can enjoy it for the rest of your life.
