At the end of the nineteenth century, life in the northeast of Brazil was hard. Rich landowners held on tightly to power, while the poor went hungry in the dry Sertão. Out of that anger and poverty came the Cangaceiros: bandits who fought injustice with violence. In this game you step into the shoes of such a gang and try to survive in hostile territory, while the Volantes, the feared state police, are hot on your heels. Each player leads a gang with its own leader, chosen from twenty different figures. Every one of them has their own powers and character, so no two games play the same. It all revolves around your small deck of seven cards. With them you gather resources, place bandits to guard an area, attack the Volantes or even storm the prison of Recife. Every choice counts, and the right card at the right moment makes all the difference. Fame is what it is all about. You earn it by attacking the Volantes, training your leader and finally letting him retire in glory. There are many more ways to gain fame, so you have plenty to think about. Whoever has collected the most fame at the end wins. A meaty game for fans of adventure and strategy, one that calls for a table full of tension and negotiation.
