This is the Dutch-language edition. A super exciting detective game for families and experienced players.
The game is set in the Whitechapel district of London. Jack the Ripper commits 5 murders in 4 nights, and after every crime he returns to his fixed hideout. One of the players takes on the role of Jack. The other players form a team of police officers who are searching for him. They have to work together and talk things through to lure Jack into a trap in the end. Jack moves in secret, and he may use carriages and alleys to take shortcuts. If Jack manages to get back to his hideout after the fourth night as well, he wins. If he fails, the detective team wins.
Every night consists of 2 parts with a number of phases. In each phase either Jack or the detective team is responsible for the action(s) involved. Jack places the "unfortunates" on the board, then the lead investigator does the same with the patrols. Because there are blank tokens among them, neither side is certain of the exact locations. Jack then decides when he commits his murder(s). The longer he waits, the further the patrols can advance, but the more time Jack also gets to escape. After committing the murder, Jack always secretly writes down where he is. During his escape he can move faster by carriage, or take a shortcut through an alley. Each detective may ask for clues or make an arrest. If they manage to arrest Jack, they win immediately. If Jack reaches his hideout, the next night begins. If Jack also returns safely to his hideout after the fourth night, he wins the game. If not, the detectives win!
Because the detectives may discuss everything, a fun and interactive game quickly develops. Jack of course does not join the discussion, but he can follow everything and draw his own conclusions.
