For centuries England and France have looked at each other with a mix of rivalry and cooperation. In 1987 Channel Tunnel it is all about one grand plan: connecting the two countries through a tunnel deep under the sea. You and your opponent each lead a crew of builders, one on the British side, the other on the French side. Who will bring their boring machine to the point exactly in the middle first? This is a two-player game in which you compete to find the best approach. You direct your workers, develop new technology and look for money to keep your machine digging further and further. As soon as the middle of the tunnel is reached, the moment of truth arrives. You score points for how far you have advanced your technology, which cards you hold and how straight your machine has moved through the ground. The clever part lies in the coloured discs. For every action you play part of your stack. That spot is then blocked, unless your opponent dares to place a taller stack on top of it. That way you keep each other on edge the whole time. If you both pass, the discs go back in the bag and a new round begins. A game full of tension, where every choice counts right down to the last metre.
